Bend profile is the how the stiffness of a shaft is distributed over the entire length of the shaft.

The most common variations are butt stiff, butt flexible, tip stiff, and tip flexible.  More recently, shaft engineering has progressed to even more progressive variations of the four listed above.  It all gets rather technical.

What this means to you, is that shaft decisions are getting increasingly complex and more difficult to make.  Keeping up with the changes is part of my job. Understanding the effects of these new variations on smooth swings and quick swings is what I do.  I sort through the data so you don’t have to.  You could spend dozens of hours trying each shaft type and variation… or you can go see an experienced professional club fitter and narrow the options in an hour or two.
